Apex Armor ™ Resilience Test

Comparison testing of apex armor™ opal to that of untreated.

This is a comparison to see how well an apex armor opal holds up to the every day wear and tear compared to untreated opal.

Test conditions:

Tree resin from handling of lumber, being surrounded by saw dust both coarse and fine, body heat and sweat, and the natural humidity of the day.

Resilience testing started at 6:30 in the morning and concluded at 7 at night.

Starting at 6:30 in the morning both opals were placed in an empty pocket. First examination took place 3 and half hours later. The apex armor™ showed no signs of change. Whereas the untreated opal had a very slight color change.

Second check took place two hours later. As expected the apex armor™ opal was still unfazed and the untreated opal was starting to show signs of scuffing.

Several hours later, after both opals had been in sawdust and rubbing against each other for hours, apex armor™ was still up for more abuse. The untreated was ready to throw in the towel by the days end the untreated opal had taken on a milky outer appearance and was showing significant chaffing on the faces and edges.

Testing note:

I had mentioned tree resin from handling the lumber at my job— as part of the test I handled both opals with resin coated hands. The apex armor™ opal took on none of the resin and what was there simply wiped away cleanly, but the same resin stuck to the untreated opal and it and had to be scraped away for it to be clean again.

In conclusion, I have determined that apex armor opal will, in fact, hold up to everyday wear and tear, whereas an untreated opal, though pretty, is not suitable for every-day, all-day wear without risking its integrity.
